Statistical approach to the problem of structural materials strength

The article is devoted to a statistical approach to the problem of strength of structural materials. To ensure the accuracy of strength calculations and to obtain structures with high reliability at minimal cost, theories of strength and ductility are needed that adequately take into account the properties of structural materials. The paper is considered a statistical approach to the problem of strength of structural materials proposed by Volkov S. D., which combines methods for calculating machine parts and structures for strength, taking into account phenomena that are significantly affected by the structural heterogeneity of technical materials.
Keywords: statistical approach; strength; tension; distribution density; microstress.

Determination of heat transfer in a rod for the case of periodic changes in the external heat transfer coefficient using the Mathieu function

The article is devoted to the theoretical issues of heat transfer through a rod. The paper considers the case of periodic changes in the coefficient of external heat transfer. The periodic change in the coefficient of external heat exchange is typical for non-stationary processes, when the heat exchange parameters change over time. The solution to the problem is given using the Mathieu equation. Mathieu functions are mathematical special functions that are periodic solutions of the Mathieu equation. They are used in solving various problems of mathematical physics, in particular, in describing wave motion with elliptical boundary conditions, in studying the phenomenon of parametric resonance, in studying nonlinear oscillations in various branches of theoretical and experimental physics, etc.
Keywords: rod; heat transfer; coefficient of external heat transfer; Mathieu equation; Floquet's theorem.

Analysis of the strength of the workpiece in subsequent deep drawing operations

The article considers brittle fracture, which is understood as fracture outside the deformation zone, occurring due to the propagation of a cleavage crack along the generatrix of the product. The study is devoted to products manufactured by the method of multi-pass deep drawing. The factors causing brittle fracture of such products are studied. Recommendations for their prevention are developed.
Keywords: brittle fracture; deformation; stress; drawing; strength.

Determination  stress-strain state of a cylindrical workpiece when straightening a local area with flat plates

To restore the shape of low-rigidity cylindrical parts such as shafts and axles, a new straightening method developed. The essence of this method is preliminary elastic deformation of the workpiece in the central section, followed by strengthening by surface plastic deformation based on transverse rolling of the workpiece with smooth plates. The stress-strain state of parts during editing of the local area was determined using the Ansys Workbench software package. The simulation results showed that to straighten a workpiece with a diameter of 10 mm and a length of 200 mm in the central section, it is necessary that the initial curvature of the part is no more than 2 mm and the width of the flat plates is no less than 40 mm.
Keywords: straightening; cylindrical workpieces; flat plates; stress-strain state; radial force; plastic deformation; yield strength; initial curvature.

This paper deals with the problem of ensuring the quality of the surface layer during the restoration of complex profile parts by directed energy deposition, which is one of the technologies of additive manufacturing. The aim is to study the influence of laser cladding modes and powder material feeding parameters on the formation of geometry and properties of the surface layer. Methods of operative control and correction of parameters in the process of cladding are proposed. Experimental data confirming the effectiveness of the selected approaches are given.

The article presents the design of a special device for processing a shaped hole in the workpiece of a body part in an electroerosion treatment machine. Studies of the strength and stability of the «fixture-billet» kit for strength and stability using the «ANSYS» software package have been performed. The dependence of the values of stresses and displacements in the investigated set of «Fixture-billet» on various masses of workpieces was also revealed. The study showed the possibility of using such devices to secure workpieces weighing up to 200 kg. in electroerosion treatment machines.
