Thermophysical studies of electrical discharge machining of press mold components

Thermal physics studies of the formation process are given Parts in electroerosion processing. The developed model, takes into account the detailed schematization of solids, the nature of the concentration of heat in the surface layers of the workpiece in the conditions of electroerosion processing, the discontinuity of the process, the change in thermophysical characteristics depending on the temperature.

Study of the scaling effect on the calcium reduction process of zirconium

This paper investigates the effect of increasing the single batch weight on the efficiency of the calcium reduction of zirconium and the properties of the resulting product. Four series of experiments were conducted with crucible batch weights ranging from 225 to 6000 g. It was found that an increase in the batch weight is accompanied by a decrease in the calcium, iron and hydrogen impurity content in the final product. At the same time, the particle size distribution, specific surface area, and reactivity of the zirconium powder do not change significantly. The results obtained can be used in the development of industrial regulations for the production of zirconium powder.
Keywords: zirconium oxide; calcium; zirconium powder; calcium reduction; hydrometallurgical processing.

Investigation of backward-and-forward extrusion of tumblers with a co-bottom part.
Part 29. Experimental verification of theoretical formulas for extrusion with initial deformation by direct extrusion and with shear of the central area

Cold extrusion with initial deformation by direct extrusion and with shear of the central area of cups with a conical bottom made of a hardening material is considered. Methods for performing specific calculations of the deforming force for various geometric parameters of free and constrained extrusion are demonstrated in detail. A comparison with experimental data obtained during the extrusion of AD1 aluminum alloy demonstrates the high accuracy of the derived calculation formulas.
Keywords: die forging; metal cup with a conical bottom; backward-and-forward extrusion; stresses; deformations.

Statistical relationship between stress and time to fracture in the theory of long-term strength of materials

The article is devoted to the theory of long-term strength of materials. The statistical relationship between stress and time to fracture in the theory of long-term strength of materials is a key aspect of assessing the durability of structures operating under prolonged exposure to loads and temperature. This relationship is described using various mathematical models, empirical formulas, and statistical methods.
Keywords: strength; theory of long-term strength of materials; fracture time; normal white noise.

Heating of the rod by passing current

The article is devoted to the theoretical issues of heat transfer. The paper considers the process of heating a rod with a passing current. Heating occurs in accordance with the Joule-Lenz law. In this case, the process under consideration is non-stationary. When solving the problem, a scheme of a bounded rod with boundary conditions of the first kind is adopted. At the same time, the problem was solved analytically using the Green's function, which allows solving boundary value problems for both infinite and finite bodies.
Keywords: core; heating; thermal conductivity; nonstationarity; Joule-Lenz law; boundary conditions of the first kind.

Computer simulation of billet edges profiling

Finite element computer simulation of the local induction heating of a workpiece with subsequent data transfer for the simulation of roller profiling was carried out using the QForm software. Two profiling schemes were employed: one with driven rollers and one with idle (non-driven) rollers. Based on the simulation results, the thermal and stress-strain states of the workpieces were evaluated. It was established that the scheme with driven rollers results in a twofold increase in accumulated strain while requiring 19 % less force compared to the scheme with non-driven rollers. The findings demonstrate the potential effectiveness of the proposed technical solution.
Keywords: cylindrical billet; profiling rollers; screw rolling; load; inductor; heating; plastic deformation.

Analysis of the effect of die lead-in size and shape on the stack stamping of thin-walled conical parts

The influence of die tooling geometric parameters on the stress-strain state of the workpieces and on the behavior of the workpieces in the stack was studied using numerical simulation of the stack stamping process of ultra-thin disk-shaped blanks using the QForm software package. Recommendations for selecting die lead-in geometric parameters during stamping are developed.

The methodology of computer-aided design of technological processes of forging bodies of rotation

A general algorithm for designing forging technology for a wide class of press forgings of rotation bodies is described. A baseline model for computer-aided design of forging processes has been developed based on the classification of forgings by type: SHAFT, CYLINDER, RING, DISC. The forging operation classification for producing various types of forgings is carried out, the composition of preliminary (preparing) and basic (form-building) operations and the general structure of characteristics associated with these operations are determined.
Keywords: forging technology, computer-aided design, baseline algorithm, technological process.
