Probabilistic model of viscous fracture under random load

The article is devoted to a probabilistic model of viscous fracture under random load, which describes the process of material destruction taking into account the variability of loads and defects. It also considers the kinetic equation of the fracture process, which describes the process of gradual accumulation of discontinuity (damage) in the material. This approach to destruction, in contrast to the static one, considers destruction as a real, time-evolving process. It is shown that the use of a probabilistic model of long-term durability allows a more reasonable approach than in the deterministic model to predict the durability of the calculated elements and qualitatively explains the spread of experimental data on durability.
Keywords: probabilistic model of viscous fracture; kinetic equation of the fracture process; measure of destruction; time of destruction.

Determination of heat transfer in a rod for the case of a linear law of change in the coefficient of external heat transfer

The article is devoted to the theoretical issues of heat transfer through a rod. The paper considers the case of a linear law of variation of the external heat transfer coefficient. At the same time, there are no heat sources in the rod, as well as in the coating layer. The process itself is stationary. The solution to the problem is given using the method of variable substitution and row division and the application of the Airy function.
Keywords: core; heat transfer; thermal conductivity; external heat transfer coefficient; Airy function.

Method for measuring crank hot stamping press force by receiver shaft torque and device for its measurement (Part 2)

Analysis of technological equipment failures shows that the largest percentage of breakdowns occurs in crank presses with flywheel drive and reciprocating action. Therefore, the tasks of reliably protecting crank presses from slider force overloads and increasing their operational reliability remain relevant. The aim of this work is to develop a protection system for crank hot forging presses, such as the K-8544 press, with a force of 25 MN, from technological overloads using a special non-contact measuring and safety device. The article proposes an assessment, method, and device for measuring the force of a crank hot forging press mod. K-8544, allowing to assess and measure the current torques of the receiving shaft in a non-contact manner by the beat frequency based on the frequency method of measuring torsional deformation using broadband FM modulation and the finite element method. For this purpose, a phase meter with a broadband sweep frequency generator (SFG), delay line, and mixer is most applicable.

Study of the technological process of casting the «Body» part made of ABS 2020-30 polymer material using numerical simulation (part 1)

Based on the analysis of scientific and technical sources, the article shows that polymers are universal synthetic materials with various properties. Their use in the manufacture of machine-building and instrument-making parts has become traditional. Polymer materials significantly reduce the cost of the product, since there is no need for blade and other processing in technological shaping operations, which also characterizes the positive effect of their use. At the same time, the cost of manufacturing molds used for casting parts from polymer materials is quite high, therefore, the mold developer bears a high responsibility for the design. The study of the technology of casting the plastic part «Body» using the virtual model «part – mold» in the SOLIDWORKS Plastics program allows us to identify how much the design of the mold ensures the quality of the resulting part under optimal casting conditions.
Keywords: polymer materials; plastic injection molding; casting molds; injection molding parameters; numerical modeling; SOLIDWORKS Plastics calculation program; software calculation indicators.

Review of modern technologies for surface plastic deformation of hard-to-machine materials

This paper presents a systematic review of modern technologies and devices for surface plastic deformation (SPD) used to strengthen difficult-to-machine materials. Mechanisms for improving the performance characteristics of products through the formation of a submicro- and nanocrystalline structure of the near-surface layer, the introduction of residual compressive stresses, and the reduction of surface microgeometry parameters are considered. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of works from the period 2015–2025, including traditional, progressive, and hybrid technologies. The article describes areas of automation, the implementation of digital monitoring systems, and the integration of SPD into post-processing processes for products obtained by additive methods. A comparative analysis of methods is conducted in terms of the depth of the hardened layer, the efficiency of residual stress formation, the effect on fatigue strength, and technological limitations. Priority areas for further development are identified: process hybridization, increased energy efficiency, digitalization, and adaptation to products with complex shapes and from new classes of materials.
Keywords: surface plastic deformation; strengthening; hard-to-machine materials; residual stresses; laser shock peening; ultrasonic treatment; additive manufacturing; hybrid technologies.

Review of technological solutions for providing tool clamping force during surface plastic deformation

This article examines technical solutions used to provide tool clamping force to the workpiece during surface plastic deformation. A classification of approaches is presented, covering elastic, hydraulic, pneumatic, inertial, magnetic, and piezoelectric systems. The technological limitations of each type of device are outlined, depending on the geometry of the workpiece surfaces, precision requirements, and force stability. A comparative analysis was conducted, resulting in recommendations for selecting suitable solutions: passive systems are feasible for machining simple profiles, while active, adjustable mechanisms are preferable for complex contours. A conclusion was reached regarding the need for an integrated approach to designing tooling for surface plastic deformation, taking into account the machining dynamics and the required characteristics of the surface being formed.
Keywords: surface plastic deformation; clamping force; tooling; finishing; microrelief.

Investigation of the patterns of formation of direct reduction iron briquettes in a roller press

The issues of production of hot briquetted iron on roller presses are discussed. It is noted that the It is noted that the obtained briquettes have insufficient strength, which can lead to their subsequent destruction during transportation. In aim to determine the reasons for insufficient strength, an analysis of the macrostructure of briquettes of directly reduced iron and experimental studies of the process of briquetting material on a roller press using physical modeling were carried out. The results of the investigation of the macrostructure of briquettes have shown that the briquette structure is characterized by a rather high uneven distribution of physical and mechanical properties. This is due, on the one hand, to the difference in the structure and properties of metallized pellets, and, on the other, to nature of movement material in the deformation zone and the stress-strain state formed. The use of physical modeling methods on a specially designed facility made it possible to study the nature of the movement of the material in the deformation site and the distribution of deformation over the cross-section of the briquette. The results of the study show that the deformation scheme using the existing shape of the cells on the rolls of the briquette press leads to an uneven distribution of deformation over the body of the briquette, where the pellets deform quite intensively in the upper part of the briquette, and insufficiently in the lower part. This circumstance leads to an uneven distribution of density and strength in the briquette, which leads to the presence of zones in it that will destroyed more easily than the rest of the briquette.
Keywords: hot briquetted iron; roller press; deformation; strength; fines; briquette.
