Isothermal upsetting during non-stationary deformation

Relationships are proposed for calculating the force mode of workpiece upsrtting under an axial symmetry scheme. The state of viscoplasticity of deformation is accepted, in which the dependence of the technology on the speed of the operation is significant. To calculate the force regime, the energy method of balancing the powers of internal and external forces was used. The non-stationary nature of the process is taken into account. It has been shown that during isothermal upsetting, the force decreases at low operating speeds. Calculated results are presented.
Keywords: viscoplasticity; kinematics; speed; power; pressure.

Method for measuring crank hot stamping press force by receiver shaft torque and device for its measurement (part 3)

Analysis of technological equipment failures shows that the largest percentage of breakdowns occurs in crank presses with flywheel drive and reciprocating action. Therefore, the tasks of reliably protecting crank presses from slider force overloads and increasing their operational reliability remain relevant. The aim of this work is to develop a protection system for crank hot forging presses, such as the K-8544 press, with a force of 25 MN, from technological overloads using a special non-contact measuring and safety device. The article proposes an assessment, method, and device for measuring the force of a crank hot forging press mod. K-8544, allowing to assess and measure the current torques of the receiving shaft in a non-contact manner by the beat frequency based on the frequency method of measuring torsional deformation using broadband FM modulation and the finite element method. For this purpose, a phase meter with a broadband sweep frequency generator (SFG), delay line, and mixer is most applicable.
Keywords: crank hot forging press; main shaft and receiving shaft; slider force; technological operations; receiving shaft torque; phase meter with modulator and broadband SFG; delay line; mixer; beat frequency; optoelectronic sensor of the receiving shaft frequency.

Determination of reliability for a given rod service life based on Markov random processes

The article is devoted to the application of a continuous Markov random process to determine the reliability function. A continuous Markov random process is a process in which the transition of a system from a state to a state occurs not at fixed, but at random points in time. This property is typical for many systems in production, where transitions from state to state occur unpredictably. The function obtained in the work represents reliability for a given rod service life with known statistical properties of the load and creep parameters.
Keywords: continuous Markov random process; durability variance; probability density; durability variance.

Determination of heat transfer in a rod for the case of a linear law of variation of the thermal conductivity coefficient of a material

The article is devoted to the theoretical issues of heat transfer through a rod. The paper considers the case of a linear law of variation of the coefficient of thermal conductivity of the rod material. At the same time, there are no heat sources in the rod, as well as in the coating layer. The process itself is stationary. The solution to the problem is given using the Frobenius method. The general solution is expressed in terms of modified Bessel functions of the first and second kind.
Keywords: Keywords: rod; heat transfer; thermal conductivity; coefficient of thermal conductivity; Frobenius method; modified Bessel functions.

An approach to assessing the predictive surface microrelief profile during burnishing

An approach to assessing the predictive surface microrelief profile is proposed. The predictive profile is obtained through virtual testing of burnishing technology. A UML diagram of the assessment procedure is developed, formalizing the process of working with data arrays. The proposed approach supports the practice of developing technological processes in a unified CAD/CAE design information environment, ensuring work with consistent data formats. The ability to analyze the predictive profile geometry serves as the basis for a preliminary assessment of machining quality, optimization of cutting conditions, selection of optimal tool parameters, prediction of performance, and reduction of the likelihood of defects. Furthermore, the predictive profile allows for the determination of the required characteristics of the original surface relief to achieve specified quality parameters after machining.
Keywords: burnishing; predictive profile; virtual testing.

Study of the technological process of casting the «Body» part made of ABS 2020-30 polymer material using numerical simulation (Part 2)

This article analyzes the existing methods for eliminating/reducing the vibration values of instrument housings. A variant is proposed to eliminate vibrations in the area of fixing the electronic board in the case under consideration by upgrading the guiding elements of the case. Studies of the housing-board kit have been performed on the stability of the board and the strength of the upgraded guides. The studies are performed using the SolidWorks Simulation calculation program.
Keywords: vibration exclusion methods; polymer spring; SolidWorks Simulation calculation program; compression force of the board; stresses in the contact surfaces; displacement magnitudes.

Methodology for designing a diamond burnishing tool based on a decision matrix for small engineering team projects

A method for developing a diamond burnishing tool is proposed based on in-depth design problem solving with an improved decision matrix as its core. The proposed classification of the structure of the FBS design model lays the foundation for forming a knowledge base for the development process. Design process control is ensured by tracking the relationships between the entered design criteria and assessing their impact on the final result. The developed method is focused on implementing innovative solutions while maintaining basic functionality and helps effectively manage design development by comparing design solutions with benchmarks for each entered criterion. An example of implementing the method for developing diamond burnishing device designs is provided. Taking into account its overall characteristics, the method is recommended for use in small engineering team projects, including solving increasingly complex problems and overcoming difficulties caused by resource constraints.
Keywords: design models; technical design development; diamond burnishing device.
