Review of promising methods for increasing tribological characteristics of sliding friction units

Increasing the reliability and durability of sliding friction pairs, especially those operating under extreme conditions, directly depends on the use of modern materials and advanced manufacturing technologies. The article discusses the most important criteria for optimal operation of sliding friction units and outlines promising methods for improving tribological characteristics. Among the numerous methods for improving tribological and tribotechnical properties of sliding friction units, the greatest preference is given to the use of modern composite materials, the use of lubricating solutions with modifying additives, as well as advanced technologies for manufacturing and processing sliding friction surfaces. The applicability of composite materials and specialized lubricants has a limited area due to the lack of the possibility of structural complication of some sliding friction units, violation of other positive properties of the system. It is shown that in recent decades, multi-level processing and the creation of combined structures of tribo-conjugated surfaces have gained the greatest popularity. The most common methods for bringing the surfaces of tribo-pairs to the required operational properties are thermal spraying technologies followed by grinding, as well as vibration rolling and laser microstructuring of friction surfaces.
Keywords: sliding friction pairs; sliding friction units; tribological characteristics; combined structures; composite materials.

Master planning as a tool for developing industrial and production potential of regions

The need to study master planning as a tool for developing the industrial and production potential of Russian regions is due, on the one hand, to the insufficient study and validity of the corresponding possibilities in the scientific literature; on the other hand, to the growing interest in Russia in master planning in general as a tool that has become widespread in the practice of managing spatial and territorial development in foreign countries. Based on the analysis of scientific literature, the authors found that industrial and production potential as a scientific category does not have a single approach to interpretation, which may be an obstacle to determining the appropriate tools for its development, including justification of the role of master planning as a separate tool. The paper clarifies the essence and structure of the industrial and production potential of the region. Based on an in-depth analysis of the national standard of master plans, the role of master planning as a tool for developing individual subsystems of the industrial and production potential of the region is substantiated. Using SWOT analysis, the role of master planning as a tool for developing the industrial and production potential of regions as a single system of elements and cooperative ties between them is substantiated.
Keywords: master planning; master plan; industrial and production potential; industry; industrial regions; territorial development; regional economy; strategic planning.

Mechanisms of international trade in technologies and development of cooperation in the scientific and technical sphere in the context of global technological transformation

This comprehensive study demonstrates a fundamental transformation of the mechanisms of international trade in technologies under the influence of global geopolitical changes and digitalization of the economic space. The analysis reveals a fundamental restructuring of traditional models of technological exchange, characterized by the transition from the dominance of developed countries to multipolar interaction structures and the formation of regional cooperation blocs. The results of the study of the dynamics of Russian participation in international trade in technologies indicate qualitative changes in the structure of technology flows. The export of Russian technologies demonstrates steady growth from $ 0,8 billion in 2020 to $ 1,5 billion in 2024, while reducing import dependence from $ 2,1 to $ 1,2 billion. A fundamental achievement is the transition from a negative trade balance (–1,3 billion dollars in 2020) to a positive indicator (+0,3 billion dollars in 2024), which reflects the increased competitiveness of domestic technological solutions. The study identifies four main forms of international technological exchange: research cooperation in the field of science and technology, distribution of technological data through the sale of patents and licenses, technical support to specific countries, and the provision of engineering and consulting services. An analysis of regional models of technological cooperation shows the formation of specialized blocs: BRICS focuses on artificial intelligence and digital technologies (trade volume of 45,2 billion dollars), the EAEU develops mechanical engineering and information technology (12,8 billion dollars), and the SCO specializes in transport and communication solutions (23,6 billion dollars). The key trend is the fragmentation of international trade in technology, which has arisen as a result of accumulated contradictions between the largest participants in the global technological exchange. Losses for countries integrated into international technological chains can reach 5 % of gross domestic product, creating incentives to search for alternative cooperation mechanisms. The COVID-19 pandemic has catalyzed the transfer of production capacities and the regionalization of technological flows, significantly affecting the architecture of international technological interaction. The practical implementation of the updated Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development of Russia provides for the formation of a model of international interaction aimed at protecting national interests while developing mutually beneficial cooperation with constructively minded states. Priority areas are digital technologies (partnership with China, India, Iran), energy solutions (cooperation with Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan), biotechnology (interaction with Brazil, South Africa, Egypt) and space technologies (projects with India, China, UAE).

Digital transformation of social and labor relations in megacities: expert analysis and forecasting algorithms

Digitalization is a key driver of the transformation of the labor market in megacities. Within the framework of new industrialization, digital technologies, including blockchain, smart contracts, and neural network solutions, are changing traditional mechanisms of interaction between employees and employers. Despite the active implementation of digital technologies in socio-labor relations in megacities in the context of new industrialization, their impact, prospects, and potential consequences remain insufficiently studied. In conditions of global competition and technological leadership, the key participants in labor relations – employees and employers – face the necessity of transforming existing interaction mechanisms. The article presents the results of a qualitative empirical study aimed at identifying conditions, barriers, and opportunities for the digital transformation of socio-labor relations in the context of the urban economy. The purpose of the study was to examine how digital technologies and new forms of contracts (such as electronic agreements, smart contracts, blockchain platforms) can reduce transaction costs and increase the efficiency of labor management. The methodological basis is built upon 28 semi-structured in-depth interviews with experts from various sectors, including human resource management, labor economics, digital transformation, public policy, and corporate governance. The experts were selected based on their practical experience (minimum 2–3 years) in implementing digital solutions in labor relations. The data collection process was carried out from February to March 2025 and followed a standardized protocol to ensure thematic consistency and ethical compliance. The interview questions were organized into five main thematic blocks: general perception of digitalization, barriers to implementation, tools for reducing transaction costs, motivational readiness of employees, and future policy recommendations. The results showed that approximately 85 % of respondents assessed the level of digitalization in their organizations as average or above average, while 45 % noted only partial or selective implementation. The most widely used technologies include electronic document management, corporate HR portals, AI-based chatbots, and digital work monitoring systems. However, the actual use of blockchain and smart contracts remains limited to pilot experiments. The main identified constraints include legal gaps (especially in labor legislation for freelancers and platform workers), high implementation costs, limited digital literacy among older employees, and insufficient institutional incentives. The study also highlights the varying levels of organizational and sectoral readiness: from advanced IT-driven ecosystems to highly conservative industries with limited infrastructure. The study also presents a framework for building a neural network model for managing socio-labor relations in megacities. A multi-stage methodology for selecting and pre-processing parameters is presented, covering data normalization, correlation analysis, indicator optimization, and pilot testing. Overall, the study demonstrates that the digitalization of labor relations is not only a technological shift but also a complex socio-institutional transformation. The results emphasize the importance of aligning legal frameworks, corporate training programs, and digital infrastructure with the changing nature of employment in smart cities. The proposed methodology and findings can serve as a basis for future research in the field of labor policy based on AI and digital workforce management.
Keywords: social and labor relations; megacities; digitalization; blockchain; smart contracts; neural network technologies; labor market; skills portrait; digital economy.

The necessity of carrying out costly nature-protection measures as informal company obligations

Modern corporate practice demonstrates a paradoxical situation: companies voluntarily assume significant financial commitments to environmental protection despite the absence of direct legal compulsion. This study analyzes the mechanism of forming informal environmental commitments and their influence on corporate strategy. Using panel data from 2,847 companies across various industries for the period 2020–2024, we examined the relationship between voluntary environmental initiatives and the long-term financial stability of organizations. The methodology includes panel data regression analysis, content analysis of corporate reporting, and expert interviews with top management representatives. The results show that companies investing over 3,2 % of their revenue in environmental programs experience an increase in their ESG rating by 24,6 points and a decrease in the cost of capital by 0,8 percentage points. A nonlinear relationship was observed between the volume of environmental investments and market capitalization: the effect becomes statistically significant when the threshold of 2,1 % of revenue is exceeded. Institutional investors demonstrate a willingness to pay a premium of 12,4 % for shares of companies with high environmental ratings. The study reveals that informal environmental commitments function as a signaling mechanism for the quality of corporate governance and long-term strategic orientation. The data obtained indicate a transformation of environmental investments from an expense item into a strategic asset, creating competitive advantages through reputational effects, reduced regulatory risks, and access to green financing.
Keywords: corporate environmental responsibility; informal obligations; ESG investing; voluntary environmental disclosure; sustainable development; environmental expenses; green financing.

Fuzzy modeling of signature dynamics using the method of potentials for biometric authentication

Biometric authentication methods based on handwritten signature dynamics are relevant for ensuring information security. However, existing methods face challenges in accounting for intra-class variability of genuine signatures and inter-class similarity between genuine and forged samples, which reduces recognition accuracy. This work proposes a novel recognition method based on fuzzy logic and the method of potentials. Fuzzy logic allows modeling the uncertainty associated with the natural variability of signature writing, such as changes in speed and pressure during the writing process. The method of potentials provides a compact and informative representation of reference samples, considering the distribution of feature values in the training set. The algorithm includes data collection from a graphics tablet, extraction of dynamic features (area of the figure bounded by the envelope of the discrete function, fuzzy number of local maxima, estimation of fuzzy increase/decrease, relative length of increasing segments, sequence of speeds, and angles between vectors), formation of reference templates, and comparison with a new signature using an individual threshold. Experiments conducted on the MCYT_Signature_100 database, containing 5000 signature samples from 100 users (25 genuine and 25 forged for each user), demonstrated the high effectiveness of the proposed method: Equal Error Rate – 0,36 % when using 20 samples for training. Comparison with methods based on Hidden Markov Models, Fourier descriptors, and histogram features confirmed the advantage of the developed approach. Further research will be aimed at increasing the signature database, investigating new features (acceleration, jerks, etc.), developing an adaptive learning system, and integration with other biometric methods.
Keywords: dynamic handwritten signature recognition; fuzzy logic; potential method; biometric authentication; information security.

Digital Transformation as a Factor of Regional Economic Development: Assessment and Prospects for the Republic of Crimea

This article provides a comparative analysis of approaches to assessing digital transformation, analyzes the costs of developing the digital economy in Russia, and breaks down the structure of organizations' digital technology spending by type of economic activity. The article also presents the development and validation of a methodology for assessing a region's digital transformation using the Republic of Crimea as an example. The methodology includes the calculation of an integral digital transformation index (DTI) based on four components: infrastructure, business technologies, human capital, and digitalization of public services. Analysis of data for 2017–2022 revealed positive dynamics of DTI (growth from 0,30 to 0,61), but a significant lag behind the all-Russian indicators, especially in the adoption of technologies by business (0,50 vs 0,75). Using a comparative analysis of scientific approaches to assessing digital transformation, recommendations are substantiated for infrastructure development, business stimulation, and human capital development. A concept for the development of digital transformation in the Republic of Crimea until 2030 has been proposed, with an emphasis on the tourism and recreational complex, industry, and the agro-industrial complex. The results can be useful for government authorities in developing digitalization programs for regions.
